Before Doug Sailors began work as an independent consultant, he worked in business. His first role of leadership was appointed in 1986 when he stepped into the role of Executive Vice Principal for an oil company. Doug Sailors switched industries to become the President of Refuse Disposal Incorporated in 1989 and from there continued to negotiate work and lead the company until he switched industries again in 1993. From 1993 until about 2002 Doug Sailors' work primarily was in the medical industry.

The turning point in Doug Sailors’ career was 2002. It was from then on he would donate his time to help structure and perform the legal filings for nonprofit organizations. In addition to working and assisting nonprofit organizations, Doug Sailors was the recipient of two awards from the American Cancer Society for his initial and continuing work.

As of 2013, Doug Sailors is a man with a diverse background and expertise in several industries. He brings all his skills and past ambitions to his current work as an independent consultant. “When I decided to become an independent consultant, I did not want to limit myself to just one industry. Many of my skills can be transferred across industries and I continue to provide services to management companies, public companies, and nonprofit organizations. My goal is to grow and help as many companies and businesses reach their full potential as possible,” says Doug Sailors.

Doug Sailors continues to be an ambitious businessman despite his independent status. He sees the challenges of each business as his own and eagerly meets them head-on. Whether it is a public company or nonprofit organization, Doug Sailors is committed to results. In 2007 Doug Sailors took a job as a consultant for a nonprofit management firm; in part due to his guidance, the charities under this management firm have provided $18 million in services since that time.
