Doug McClain has always wanted to help people in any way that he could. This desire is what led him to leaving the Georgia Institute of Technology in the 1960s, choosing to study at Mount Royal Seminary with the aim of becoming a medical research professional. It is also a passion that has transferred itself into every aspect of his personal life and led him down the route of becoming an adoptive parent.

During the course of his life, Doug McClain has accepted 13 children into his home with the aim of helping them to overcome to trials that they have faced during the course of their young lives, providing a happy and supportive environment for them to continue their development and eventually reach their potential as adults. In recent years he and his wife have been granted full custody of a group of 3 siblings, who he wanted to make sure stayed together so that they could continue to enjoy the family bond that they had already formed prior to their adoption.

He is also quick to offer advice and guidance to fellow adoptive parents who are struggling with the unique demands that adoption offers. Through his years of experience, McClain is able to provide help to those who need it, ensuring that they in turn offer a better environment for the children that they have chosen to take into their own homes.

The Christian values that McClain holds so dear to his heart have played a large part in informing his decision to adopt, as he has taken the message of Jesus Christ to heart, particularly in regards to helping other people in any way that he can.

Today Doug McClain is delighted to say that the children that he has helped to raise are going on to lead fruitful and happy lives as adults. He believes that it is a privilege to have been involved in their lives in any capacity and he hopes that the help that he has provided over the years has allowed the children he has adopted to achieve what they want out of life.
