Daniel Harvey Riggs is a journalist and engaged citizen in Reno, Nevada and he is excited about the revitalization of the local economy.

Daniel Harvey Riggs has seen a lot change in the economy of Reno, Nevada over his lifetime. For example, Daniel Harvey Riggs is aware, unlike many other people, that Reno was the gambling capital of the world until the 1950s, when Las Vegas became more active with casinos and hotels. Even though the economy has had its ups and downs over the years, Daniel Harvey Riggs is confident that things are looking up.

“Reno has seen a lot of changes over the past several decades, but I am confident that our civic leaders are on the right track when it comes to turning this train around,” Daniel Harvey Riggs said. “I know that we are on well on our way to having an economically vibrant little city, if we keep on the course that we on,” Daniel Harvey Riggs continued.

Indeed, Reno has gone through quite a few changes in the last several decades. Once touted as the gambling capital of the world, Reno fell out of favor when Las Vegas rose to prominence during the 1950s. “When Las Vegas became popular, the world forgot about Reno,” Daniel Harvey Riggs confirms. Further economic hits came when companies left the area.

In the past few years, however, the government of Reno has made real efforts to revitalize its economy. “We have a great convention center, and we make a real effort to bring in quality conventions each year,” Daniel Harvey Riggs told the press. “Personally, I love going to the classic car expo, but I know that there are a number of very important professional conferences that take place at our beautiful facilities throughout the year,” Daniel Harvey Riggs elaborated.

Daniel Harvey Riggs is hopeful that the influx of professional conferences and expositions is a sign that Reno is on its way back to economic prominence. Even though it has been a long time since “The Littlest Big City in the World” has been a household name in this country, with people like Daniel Harvey Riggs and the municipal government of Reno, Nevada working towards economic revitalization, there are no limits on Reno’s success.
