Curtis Jacobsen is happy to be celebrating that fact that he has had his CompTIA A+ Certification for 10 years. He is so grateful that he has been able to use his certification throughout this last decade. Curtis Jacobsen worked hard in obtaining his certification, and he is glad that he was able to learn so much from the process of obtaining his certificate.
In order to receive his CompTIA A+ Certification, Curtis Jacobsen had to take two important exams. The first exam, known as CompTIA A+ 220-801 covered a number of important and fundamental aspects of computers. Studying for this exam allowed Curtis Jacobsen to learn about installing and configuring personal computers, laptops, and other computer hardware. It also allowed him to learn about basic networking skills.
Curtis Jacobsen also had to take the exam known as CompTIA A+ 220-802. Curtis Jacobsen had to know about installing and configuring important PC operating systems. In addition to that, he had to know about configuring things commonly needed in office environments such as email programs and network connectivity for mobile phone operating systems.
Curtis Jacobsen says, “The exams were challenging, but fun, as I knew my stuff. I had an hour and a half for each exam; I had 90 questions on each exam, and they were all multiple choice and performance-based questions. These are generally the types of questions that I tend to do best at on exams. Before taking the exams, I knew I had to be prepared, so I made sure that I had at least 6 to 12 months of hands-on experience in the field.”
Each test is graded a bit differently and has different sets of requirements. Curtis Jacobsen learned that for the 220-801 exams, he needed to achieve a score of at least 675. For the 220-802 exams, Curtis Jacobsen needed to have a score of at least 700. Both tests were scored on a scale of 900.
Today, Curtis Jacobsen has several more certifications. He works in the IT field in Clackamas, Oregon. Currently, he works for Cochran, Inc. as a full time technician. Curtis Jacobsen also works at Daimler Trucks as a contractor.
