Christopher Hayden Crane, MD, is a Professor with Tenure at the University of Texas's MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is considered a thought leader in radiation oncology. He is also recognized as one of the leading pancreatic and liver cancer radiation oncologists, and is devoting his professional efforts to innovating new cancer treatments and to helping to find a cure for cancer.

In 2015 he was recognized with the University of Texas Board of Regents Award for Excellence in Education. Only a select few faculty members in the UT system are chosen for this honor, which brings with it a $25,000 award. “To win one of these awards is truly a remarkable achievement,” said Board of Regents Chairman Paul L. Foster. “An external peer review committee comprised of experts from across the UT health science disciplines, who are members of the UTR Academy of Health Science Education, evaluated the nominations.”

Dr. Crane is also a past recipient of the Luis Delclos Excellence in Teaching Award. In addition, he has been recognized for clinical excellence with the Simon Kramer New Investigator Award, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, and has been included in rankings of Best Doctors in America on numerous occasions.

Professor Christopher Hayden Crane, MD, also leads the pancreatic and hepatobiliary XRT programs. These programs are among the best of their kind, internationally. He has also led the application of proton therapy, CT image guidance and other advanced technologies to be able to deliver unprecedented results. These results were achieved by safely applying as much as twice the normal dose of radiation to cancerous cells while leaving healthy surrounding cells less damaged than with traditional radiation therapies.
