Description: Cathy Steckelberg offer some important advice on the some of the most widely used fantasy football hosting platforms

Location: Denver, Colorado

Cathy Steckelberg understands that one of the questions that often face fantasy Football League commissioners is where to host your fantasy football for the season. With a wide variety of options to choose from, there should be one that is right for every league. Most league hosts have many of the same features. They may be organized or setup differently but ultimately their offerings are similar.

To help new league commissioners and league commissioners wanting to try something new, here is a little bit of expert advice from someone who has used most of the major platforms. Cathy Steckelberg would focus on the four most-used fantasy football hosts, Yahoo, ESPN, CBS Sports, and the NFL Network.

• On the NFL networks hosting site, you can get a lot of real time information. However, the analysis provided is subpar compared to the other three. You can watch the videos to get some advice however, way too often; they turn to gimmicky things that are not helpful. They may find them entertaining but for a fantasy football owner needing some advice, it is more annoying than anything else. The NFL even has a segment last year called the wheel of stupid questions that they would waste time on.

• Another one of the most popular is ESPN. The ESPN site is a great combination of features, ease of use and information. The site places everything at your fingertips and allows team owners to control what information they see. With an intuitive computer interface and a good app for smartphones, it is no wonder ESPN is one of the largest fantasy football hosts. The main drawback, although to many it is not an issue, is the limits when you have not paid to be an ESPN Insider. ESPN splits their content into two categories. The free content and the insider content. While it is true that ESPN is a business and is looking to make a profit, ESPN seems to think that enough people will use their site and pay to be an insider.

• In Cathy Steckelberg’s opinion the, CBS Sports setup is one of the best two. It is actually not a great host. The hosting platform is at times hard to use, and the app is not much better. However, Cathy Steckelberg knows that the fantasy analysis and expert opinions found on CBS Sports is much better then the majority of hosts out there and the expert opinions make this host something to keep an eye on. If they improve their interface and mobile app then, this would be worth the money they charge to host the site.

• The site that Cathy Steckelberg uses because it is a great all around host is Yahoo. Yahoo fantasy sports allow for a number of details that are often overlooked by the majority of hosting sites. In the past few years, Yahoo has gotten even better than it used to be. The analysis it provides is now written and produced by the experts at Rotoworld. This relationship makes Yahoo, a leader. They can now offer high quality in depth analysis as well as a great hosting platform.

Cathy Steckelberg encourages you to setup a free league on all the sites where you can understand the pros and cons. You may happen to like one site better than another for a reason not mentioned here. Use what you enjoy just test the hosting platform thoroughly before the draft date.
