Throughout his life, Bilal Basrai has dedicated his time to improving his local community. This is witnessed through his years spent teaching others and volunteering. His commitment to philanthropy has carried over into his professional career, where he exhibits care and respect to his clients and associates each day.

During his youth, Basrai was a star tennis player who had the opportunity to attend two State Tennis Championships. This success did not go to his head however, and he spent his summers teaching other youths how to play tennis. Even after leaving his hometown of Streamwood, Illinois for college, he continued to teach tennis during his semester and summer breaks.

Bilal Basrai discovered quickly that there is great satisfaction to be had in the education of others. Getting to be a part of someone's learning process is a fulfilling job that he would recommend to anyone. Helping others to achieve their own potential was a key to his success as a tennis teacher, and now as a corporate advisor.

The ability to teach, to really reach his students, lends itself to the traits necessary for a profitable and well respected advising career. Just as with teaching, advising requires an above average ability to communicate and listen. A strength of character is crucial, as is the integrity to follow through with one's promises.

Though keeping up on his studies and playing and teaching tennis took much of his time as an adolescent, Basrai also found time to volunteer at a local hospital. This work gave him his first glimpse of the medical and healthcare fields. When he began his later education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne, he took that interest in healthcare one step further by receiving training as an Emergency Medical Technician.

Learning the ropes and passing the EMT certification was an odd thing to do for an Economics major, but has inevitably come in handy while working with the financial aspects of the medical and healthcare sector. Bilal Basrai believes that everyone should broaden their own horizons, and give as much as their time as possible to others.
