As a surgeon who has practiced for more than 35 years, Basudeb Saha has attended to hundreds of patients. Each encounter is unique, and over the years Saha has learned to count himself blessed to attend to each of his patients. His greatest joy isn't the personal and professional accolades he has accumulated over the years, but rather the smiles the families of his patients have when their loved ones recuperate.

For all his skill and experience, Basudeb Saha still holds on to the virtues that make him humble and appreciative of his position: he is caring and patient. He knows that not everyone is as privileged to become as accomplished as he is, so he gives his time and resources to the community regularly. Saha believes that anyone who is in a position to help a fellow man should without hesitation. On his part, Basudeb Saha hopes that his contributions will positively change a life.

It is for this reason that he regularly donates to the school for the blind in New Delhi, India. He believes that visual impairment (or any physical disability) should not hinder a child's desire to become great. Over the years, he has appreciated what the school has done for visually impaired children in India and hopes his contributions help to make their lives comfortable. As a medical practitioner, he also hopes for the day when modern advancements in medicine will come up with a cure for this ailment.

As a resident surgeon at the New Jersey College of Medicine, Basudeb Saha was well known for his natural talent and professionalism, which earned him the Best Surgical Resident Award. He relishes this accolade with pride, as it takes him back to the early days that provided an opportunity for him to hone his skills.

Basudeb Saha’s love for helping through his profession and community contributions is rounded off by his family and hobbies. As a husband and father, he values the time he gets to spend with his family. A passion for gardening and reading complete the successful man many know Basudeb Saha to be.
