Daryl Harrison, author of the novel The Waiting Game, says that he is planning a surprise book signing in his hometown of Omaha sometime later this year. He wants the event to be a surprise because likes to keep the literary community in his hometown “on their toes.” Harrison continues, “It’s like a surprise party. I want to drop a small party on the town sometime when I come through, just to add a little mystery to their lives, and maybe create some serious anticipation.”

Critics have called The Waiting Game an in-depth study in anxiety and the nervous energy of anticipation. Daryl Harrison says that he wanted to write a mystery novel or thriller that encompassed his feelings he knew well and could describe in detail for his readers. So far, he has sold over a hundred thousand digital and print copies throughout the country. Readers marvel at the mix of personal introspection in the main character and the thrilling twists and turns throughout the novel.

Daryl Harrison has since moved to New York after his book saw such success. He hopes to land another agent and get his next novel into a major publishing house there and take the traditional publishing route. He and his wife are planning on starting a family soon, and Harrison felt that being involved in a more traditional publishing route would secure more stable book sales over time for his next novel.

He is sure he wants to include the same main character in the new book somehow, he’s just unsure exactly how he wants to incorporate him. Harrison says that his surprise book signing is not intended as a way to promote his next book, but to give the residents of Omaha something to anticipate this year.
