Anthony Harrelson of North Carolina founded White Oak Industries to research new ways to treat deadly viral infections such as HIV and Ebola. Dr. Harrelson hopes to have his new treatment developed and commercialized for global sales soon so that the treatment can help as many people as possible. He and his team at White Oak Industries have begun noninvasive, FDA-approved animal testing and they hope to have the treatment fully approved by the FDA in the next six to twelve months, at which point Harrelson and his company will make an Initial Public Offering.
Anthony Harrelson of North Carolina is primarily concerned with immunotherapy. Immunotherapy reprograms the body’s immune system to attack infected cells throughout every tissue in the body. This allows the body to detect and destroy the virus before it can replicate itself beyond the point of treatment. Dr. Harrelson and his team do this by first isolating the RNA of the virus in the patient’s body and using that genetic information to tell the body’s dendritic cells to flag that particular antigen so the rest of the immune system can destroy it. Dendritic cells are the generals of the body’s immune system. They mark pathogens for T cells and antibodies to attack and destroy. Dr. Harrelson hopes to reprogram these cells to attack viruses, which can hide in certain tissues the immune system cannot penetrate.
Anthony Harrelson of North Carolina has been researching immunotherapy for years and has forged many meaningful partnerships with schools and facilities to help him and his team at White Oak Industries with this important work. Harrelson lives in Archdale, North Carolina.
