Angela Lynn Rapley is a registered nurse in St. Louis, Missouri. She has been a nurse for the past ten years and has spent her entire nursing career at the SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center. She began working at the Children’s Medical Center in 2005, the same year that she graduated from nursing school. This year is her tenth year with the hospital, and she is fast approaching her work anniversary with the medical center.

Angela Lynn Rapley always had an interest in medicine and the healthcare industry, but it wasn't until her later years in high school that she decided that she wanted to be a nurse. This was a mature decision for a person her age considering that most of her classmates did not know what they wanted what future career they wanted to pursue. She settled on nursing because of her long-standing interest in medicine but also because of her interest in helping other health care professionals. She did not have an interest in medical school because she wasn’t prepared to commit up to ten years of schooling. She settled on nursing knowing that she would make an important difference in people’s lives while also providing important assistance to other health care professionals.

Angela Lynn Rapley enrolled at the University of Missouri in St. Louis in 2001 and graduated from the College of Nursing in 2005. That same summer, she began employment at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center. SSM Cardinal Glennon is the largest pediatric center in St. Louis. They have 190 beds and treat inpatients and outpatients. They specialize in cardiology, cancer services, pediatric and fetal surgery, and neonatology. The hospital also houses the Dana Brown Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Bob Costas Cancer Center, the Dorothy and Larry Dallas Heart Center, the St. Louis Fetal Care Institute, the St. Louis Cord Blood Bank, and the Missouri Poison Center, which is open to provide service throughout the state 24/7.

Although Angela Lynn Rapley finds nursing to be stressful, exhausting and tolling both physical and mentally at times, she still finds her job to be rewarding and important. On the days that she comes home exhausted and stressed, she is still safe in the knowledge that she made a difference in a child, and their families lives. She looks forward to another ten years at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center.
