Note from Doug: Wrapping up 2017

Posted November 16, 2017 by putonthebrakes

We are one of the leading defensive driver training organization for teen based in Concord, USA. We have an aim to prevent injuries of teens.

With Halloween candy supplies dwindling and holiday decorations already going up around town and in stores, it’s a good time to reflect on all that BRAKES has accomplished this year before we charge into 2018.

We had more classes than weekends during the month of October, as the schedule returned us to familiar locations like Concord, Orlando and Manheim, Pennsylvania. And thanks to our friends at Kia, October also featured tremendously successful sessions in two new Midwest markets: Chicago and Cincinnati,
October also provided us with several wonderful opportunities to spread the word about teen driving safety, and how our program is truly making a difference.
We were in Topeka on October 9, where I had the honor of presenting the keynote address during “Put The Brakes On Fatalities Day” at the state capitol. Sponsored by the Kansas Department of Transportation, the special event was attended by elected officials, dignitaries, safety advocates, the Kansas Highway patrol and, of course, local high school students.

On October 20, we were thrilled to be the featured non-profit at the annual Detroit Speed Open House in Mooresville. Featuring tours of the massive Detroit Speed facility and the display of hundreds of collector cars and trucks, the event steered 100 percent of admission fees to our program. We owe a huge thanks to Kyle Tucker and his incredible team for their friendship and support.

The momentum we’ve built over the past 10 months will continue through the end of the year, as our remaining schools are at full capacity. As for 2018, we’ll soon have a preliminary schedule, which will be posted on our site and updated in next month’s newsletter. For now, mark your calendars for the weekend of January 6-7, as we head to Arizona’s Westworld of Scottsdale, home to the internationally acclaimed Barrett-Jackson collector car auction taking place the following week.
