Dr. Rafael Manon has recently published an article on electron conformal therapy in the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics.

Orlando, FL – Dr. Rafael Manon is pleased to announce the publication of his most recent article, “Image-Guided Bolus Electron Conformal Therapy - A Case Study,” published in the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, a publication of the American College of Medical Physics. Rafael Manon contributed to the research and writing of this article along with MD Anderson Cancer Center Colleagues Omar Zeidan, Bhavin Chauhan, William Estabrook, Twyla Willoughby, and Sanford Meeks.

In the article, Rafael Manon and his colleagues describe their methods and success of using image machine-integrated megavoltage planar imaging and cone beam CT volumetric imaging in the treatment of a patient with basal cell carcinoma of the nasal dorsum. Rafael Manon and his colleagues described their findings in the paper, suggesting that using these imaging techniques can improve treatment dosing rates.

“This research is a subset of a larger project that I am working on, in which I am attempting to develop improved techniques of using radiation based therapies, specifically adaptive radiotherapy, to treat multiple types of cancer,” said Dr Rafael Manon. “So far, my work has indicated that the use of state of the art technology in these treatments can improve radiation targeting and amounts needed, thereby reduce the incidence of side effects in patients and improve quality of life.”

Rafael Manon is a leader in the field of oncology and technological improvements in radiotherapy, and has been published in a number of peer-reviewed journals for his developments in the treatment of head, neck, lung, and gynecologic cancers. Dr Rafael Manon’s work has been published in journals including the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, and Physics; Technology in Cancer Research & Treatment, and Clinical Lung Cancer. His publications largely focus on the use of high-tech imaging methods to improve the efficacy of radiation in the treatment of multiple types of cancer.

Dr. Rafael Manon is the director of research for MD Anderson Cancer Center’s radiation oncology department. In addition to his research, Dr Rafael Manon sees individual patients in the department of oncology, and has an excellent rate of positive treatment outcomes. Dr Rafael Manon has recently won the Exemplary Physician Colleague Award from OrlandoHealth.
