Bonners Ferry, Idaho - John Baisden is happy to announce a successful roller skating trip in Libby, Montana for a group of students and staff. The trip was one of many extra-curricular activities and events that the Turning Winds Academic Institute organizes throughout the year.
The roller skating trip was a success for John Baisden for a variety of reasons. For many of the troubled students at Turning Winds, this was their first time roller-skating. This activity provides a chance for John Baisden and staff to see students demonstrate their improved maturity when attempting something new. It is also an opportunity for students to bond with one another and with staff. For the students that have a strong grasp of roller-skating, this trip was an opportunity for them to take responsibility and become a teacher and educator about how their fellow students can learn to roller skate.
Asked why Turning Winds includes so many extra-curricular activities, John Baisden replied, "On the surface, a lot of these activities just seem like pointless fun. In reality, roller-skating, hiking trips, camping, and other activities I help with are opportunities for students to grow as people and demonstrate their maturity. It's also a great way to build trust and friendship which are vital to coming through our program and finishing as a better person than when students started."
John Baisden plans to continue Turning Winds' habit of having frequent outings and activities for students and staff. The companionship and educational opportunities are too vast to overlook. Turning Winds has helped hundreds of troubled teens and John Baisden hopes to continue helping troubled teens as long as he can.
