Erin Cho, a Professor at Parsons talks about her time at the university and her future plans.

 
New York, NY - Erin Cho at Parsons, The New School for Design, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. While at the university, Erin Cho obtained her PhD in Supply Chain Management for Global Solutions and Consumer Behavior. Prior to her time in Wisconsin, she obtained her B.A. and M.A. from Seoul National University in Korea.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison was founded in 1848 and is the official state university of Wisconsin. It is a public research university, and it is organized into twenty different schools. The university has 29,153 undergraduate, 8,710 graduate, and 2,570 professional students. In 2011, the University of Wisconsin-Madison was ranked 41st in the world by QS World University Rankings. Additionally, Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s 2010 Academic Ranking of World Universities ranked it 17th among world universities and 15th among U.S. universities for academic and research performance.

Erin Cho at Parsons is an avid researcher and selected the school strategically, she stated, “After graduating from Seoul National University, I knew it was something I wanted to pursue professionally. I am extremely passionate about academia—teaching, researching, mentoring, and everything else that goes along with it. I selected the University of Wisconsin-Madison due to its high rankings and distinction related to research. I knew this university would provide me with a valuable and worthwhile education necessary to succeed. Upon entering the school, my ultimate goal was to become a faculty member at a leading university in the U.S.”

The University of Wisconsin-Madison was a founding member of the Association of American Universities, and it maintains around 100 research centers and programs. Erin Cho spoke more about her experiences while at the university, “I formed meaningful relationships with various mentors at the school. These mentors were the people that helped develop my research and manuscripts. The opportunities UW-Madison provided me with were priceless. My time there really enriched my knowledge and ultimately my career.”

Erin Cho has accepted a faculty position at Washington State University in 1998. She continues to conduct research in areas including strategic design management, branding, innovation, fashion, and sustainability.
