South Birmingham, Alabama - Bruce Heen can point to the exact moment he began his career as an accountant. He points to the moment that changed his life for the better in 1980 when he began work with Sentry Life Insurance Company in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He only worked in Wisconsin for two years before he transferred to Georgia. After his transfer, Bruce Heen began a career of change and growth.

Bruce Heen points to his transfer to Georgia as one of the significant moments in his career. The reason this moment was significant to Bruce Heen was because this was his first promotion. “I was promoted to Southeast Life Accounting Manger in 1982. As a result I moved to Atlanta, Georgia,” says Bruce Heen.

In 1985, Bruce Heen began a new position as Life Insurance Financial Reporting Manager for Union Security Insurance Company, which is part of the American Security Insurance Group in Atlanta, Georgia. “During my time with the American Security Insurance Group I was recognized by American Security Group for compiling detailed accounting guide for in-house reinsurance system in 1987,” says Bruce Heen.

He then received a second recognition by the American Security Insurance Group in 1990. “My second recognition was for developing a standardized system for completing year end regulatory statements,” recalls Bruce Heen. And only two years after this second recognition, Bruce Heen was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Life Company Reinsurance Services in 1992.

Bruce Heen was very proud of his promotions and work recognitions. Not only did the recognitions demonstrate that the work he performed was impressive, but also demonstrates how valuable he was for his company. Bruce Heen continued to build his career after his promotions and recognitions from American Security Insurance Group. He moved on to other companies where he carried the title of vice president. His most recent position came, “in 2006, when I became Vice President for the Life and Annuity Business Planning and Analysis department for Protective Life Insurance Company.”
