India’s swashbuckling opener Rohit Sharma has revealed that he doesn't believe in long-term goals now as they add more pressure and stress. On the other hand, he likes to have short-term goals which also included planning and preparing for games in the next two-three months as of now since the entire world has been fighting against the global pandemic COVID-19. However, the Indian cricketers are currently enjoying time with their families amid this lockdown break due to the COVID-19.

"Over the years, I've realised that long-term goals won't help you in anyway, on the contrary it will add to your pressure and stress. I have always focused on short term goals which are mainly the next few games in the upcoming 2-3 months – who is it against, what can I do best," Rohit Sharma said while speaking on Star Sports Cricket Connected show. "Setting goals for each series or tournament helps me a lot and I will continue to follow this method in the future."

If the situation would have been normal, cricketers would be busy with the cash-rich tournament Indian Premier League 2020. However, because of the global pandemic novel coronavirus, the much-awaited tournament has been postponed for an indefinite time period. Earlier the tournament was scheduled to begin from March 29 but later it was postponed to April 15 and now because of the global pandemic, it has been cancelled.

Even there has been a question mark on the T20 World Cup too which has been scheduled to take place in October-November in Australia. Moreover, the much-anticipated India tour of Australia too is in doubt as well whether these can take place or not.

"In the upcoming years, I hope we get the opportunity to play cricket, as we don't know when we will play again," said Rohit Sharma. "When we resume playing cricket, we will have to see what's coming our way - whether its T20 World Cup or IPL. We even had a big bilateral series against Australia planned – we will have to analyse and see who we are playing against."
