Dubai, February 14: Dubai’s perennial attraction, Dubai Fountain, is all set to undergo a major renovation! Emaar recently released a statement announcing its temporary closure for five months. The period will be utilized for comprehensive maintenance and upgrade of one of the region’s most iconic attractions that has enthralled millions of visitors from different parts of the world since its debut in 2009.
About Dubai Fountain
Dubai Fountain, launched by Emaar, has remained Downtown Dubai’s piece-de-resistance for over 16 years. Designed and built by WET Design, the creative mind behind Las Vegas’ iconic Bellagio Fountain, it sits on the 30-acre Burj Lake, next to the tallest-of-its-kind Burj Khalifa Dubai and the mega Dubai Mall.
It boasts an extensive fan-base in its own right, especially for its resplendently choreographed aquatic show that jets out up to 20,000 gallons of water and sprays water up to a height of over 150 meters, equivalent to a 50-story building. This unique performance sees water swaying and twirling in perfect sync of some of the most celebrated Arabic, Bollywood, and western music numbers, making it a spectacle like no other! Adding to its grandeur is over 6600 WET super lights and 25-plus color projectors.
The best thing is that it is a free attraction, dazzling spectators multiple times a day in every 15 minutes, mostly after sunset. Visitors can watch the spectacle from Downtown Dubai’s waterfront esplanade or sidewalk leading to Souk Al Bahar. The show can also be admired from various premium vantage points for a nominal charge, such as on an exclusive abra ride along Burj Lake or by heading to the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk, a 270-meter-long floating deck.
Dubai Fountain Upgrade
The Dubai Fountain upgrade aims to elevate the overall viewing experience for visitors. Emaar Properties’ founder, Mohamed Alabbar, said, “Dubai Fountain is more than a spectacle—it is a reflection of Dubai’s soul, where art, innovation, and emotion come together in perfect harmony. As we elevate this iconic landmark, we continue to create experiences that connect people, inspire wonder, and stand the test of time.” The upgrade will mainly focus on the following:
• Enhanced Choreography: Dubai Fountain’s signature blend of water, music, and light has always been its focal point. And the upcoming maintenance lets visitors have an even more mesmerizing spectacle.
• Cutting-edge Sound & Lighting System: A revamp in its sound and lighting systems will further cement the fountain’s status as a world-class attraction.
• Advanced Technology: The extensive upgrade will also incorporate the latest innovations, ensuring its seamless performance.
Dubai Fountain: Closing Period
Ahead of 2025-26 winter, Dubai Fountain will be closed for maintenance and upgrade for five months from May to October.
