The story of Powermaster goes back to 1972 when it was founded by Sri. S.L. Advani with tube expanders as its only product. The company took off in spite of financial crunch in the early years. By 1980, the company expanded into tube cleaning equipment for boilers and pans in sugar mills.

In 1984, the automotive sector in India was liberalized, throwing up fresh opportunities for the company. Based on its founding principles, it designed and began selling the product of spring balancer used to easily suspend loads. For the sake of the same industry, the company expanded its product line to include Torque Multipliers, Torque wrenches and Impact sockets. This led to the third major product line of the company, namely the Bolting product line.

By the early 2000’s, products of the company came to be used widely in the petrochemical industry (power pants, refineries) and other heavy industries in India. The base of products was expanded to include Flange spreading equipment, Nut cutters and Bolt tensioners. The company also began to offer the service of hiring equipment for whomever purchase was not feasible. In 2011, the company launched a major product of Hydraulic Torque wrench.
