Raised in the United States, Taryam Al Subaihi moved to the UAE when he was a teenager. In his earlier years, as a columnist for some of UAE's top English language newspapers, he started writing about topics that would help build a link between the expatriate and the UAE community. Since 2006, he has been organizing intercultural communication workshops to facilitate and encourage integration for those who decide to live and work in the UAE. He is now the MEPRA Chair and Director of Corporate Communication, EWEC. As Chair of MEPRA he notes how essential it is to learn from the past twenty years of experience to welcome people and agencies in the Arabic communication field.

Having a good knowledge of the culture of the place in which you live can have a decisive impact on your lifestyle, how you approach others, and the business itself. Understanding, discovering and leaving the comfort zone are all actions that allow us to grow and improve, in fact, as Taryam himself argued, "You can live a fuller life, a life where you accepted as part of the community by taking that initiative, by breaking out of your comfort zone and pushing fear aside and trying to learn from what the culture, the traditions, the customs".
