The Zenobia wreck is known by locals in Larnaca as “The Zen,” and is rated one of the top wreck dives in the world. The Zenobia lies on her side with more than one hundred lorries, which are scattered around the wreck. It was a Swedish built ferry, which was launched in 1979. She capsized and sank close to Larnaca in Cyprus in June 1980, which was her maiden voyage.

Zenobia diving is better suited to an experienced diver with the seabed at forty-two metres, very few currents and wonderfully warm water. The marine life is unique in Larnaca and can be seen all around the wreck. Some of the marine life divers see includes tuna, triggerfish, groupers, barracudas and turtles, to name a few.

What makes this dive unique is that the trucks and their cargo have never been salvaged, lying on the seabed chained to the deck. The wreck is longer than an average-sized football stadium and weighs a hefty eleven thousand tonnes. Today this has become one of the best diving for shipwrecks and has established Cyprus on the scuba diving map.

The waters in Larnaca and around the Zenobia remain around twenty-five degrees Celsius, offering a long diving season. It offers excellent visibility usually thirty to forty metres with a calm season with very little current. The Zenobia shipwreck has become a marine park or a host of beautiful marine life, which can be enjoyed when experiencing this diving opportunity.
