Peter Mara - How to Make Your Life Greener

Posted July 15, 2016 by petermara

Peter Mara is a wind energy finance specialist who lives a green life – you can do the same with a few modifications to your daily life.

Peter Mara is Vice President of Finance for Westerly Wind, LLC., and, through his profession, he leads a green life in which he helps make renewable energy more readily available to the world. Such endeavors reduce reliance on fossil fuels and actively battle global warming in an effective and lasting manner.

Though, ideally, we could all hold positions like Peter Mara most aren’t able to go to such great lengths to reduce their negative impact on the world. We can, however, all work to make our lives greener through other methods. For example, steps like those below will make your life a little greener:

No More Junk Mail – If you take ten minutes per week to contact organizations that send you junk mail on a regular basis, you can reduce the amount of paper you consume by dozens of pounds per year.
No More Bottled Water – In the United States alone, over 30 million plastic water bottles are sold, but less than twenty-percent of them are recycled. Many bottled water companies use tap water to fill their bottles, so you can save resources and get the same thing if you buy a reusable bottle to fill up at home. If your home water is not up to your standards, a simple water filter can help.
Conserve Energy – Whenever possible, conserve energy by unplugging appliances, walking instead of driving, turning off lights and not running your faucets unnecessarily. This both helps the environment and, often, reduces your bills each month.
Ditch the Chemicals – Switching your foods to organic will reduce your chemical pesticide consumption and support the use of organic produce. Additionally, selecting toxic-chemical-free products for daily use (BPA-free plastic containers, for example) is better for you and the Earth, and it can save you hundreds of dollars.

If you’d like to go above and beyond efforts like those above, even if you don’t endeavor to enter a renewable energy field as Peter Mara did, contact a local organization and get involved.
