PersonalEYES is Australia’s leading network of eye care clinics, with 12 surgery centres in NSW and ACT. Specialists in corrective eye surgery.

Dr Chris Qureshi, a surgeon at Westmead Hospital and expert in treating diseases of the retina and macular degeneration, has joined the team at a new eye clinic in Burwood.

Relocating from North Strathfield, the new PersonalEYES clinic has taken up residency in Burwood to improve the offering of eye services and care options available to the local community. The clinic will officially open on Wednesday, 1st of June.

With the appointment of Dr Qureshi, more Burwood residents will have access to the most advanced treatment options for various eye conditions, including macular degeneration.

Macular degeneration is present in one in seven Australians over the age of 50 . It is estimated that the population of people over 65 in the inner west will reach 78,383 by this year, and currently, Burwood has the second highest proportion of people aged over 65 years (at 15%) in this region, before neighbouring suburb Ashfield (at 14%) . PersonalEYES estimates that there are 11,000 sufferers over 65 in the inner west.

CEO of PersonalEYES, Dean Powrie, says the move was prompted by a need to offer greater convenience to patients. “Ease of accessibility is critical to our patients, particularly those with reduced mobility. The new Burwood clinic is far more convenient for our patients. It is serviced by a range of public transport options and has plenty of car parking available. Westfield Burwood also offers two hours free parking, which is handy for patients needing to access the centre facilities in the same trip.”

The clinic is a short four-minute walk to Burwood train station and a three-minute walk to Westfield Burwood.

Other leading doctors in the field, Dr Chandra Bala and Dr Loren Rose, will be familiar faces to patients at the new clinic.

PersonalEYES’ Burwood eye clinic is located at Suite 5A, 1-17 Elsie Street and is open Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5.30pm. Residents interesting in making an appointment should contact the clinic on (02) 8090 8010. For more information, please visit - http://personaleyes.com.au/locations/burwood/
