There was a time when there were limited options for engineering and medical colleges even in the city of Pune which is known as the Oxford of the East. However, the industrial development of Pune coincided with the development of suburbs like Pimpri-Chinchwad. Industrial development demanded engineers on a large scale and the limited number of colleges in the city could not fulfil the demand. Convenience rather than name and fame were preferred by the bourgeois, which encouraged a number of institutes to start engineering colleges in the industrial suburbs. The Pimpri—ChinchwadCollege of Engineering is one such recent venture established in 1990.
The college was started by Pimpri-Chinchwad Education Trust. It is permanently affiliate to SavirtibaiPhule Pune University and approved by AICTE. In short, although new, the college fulfils all the rules and regulations set by UGC and matches the standards of the best engineering colleges in the country.
The college focuses on research, practical approach, innovative teaching methods, incorporation of IT and industry interaction. The college provides every kind of support for jobs and placements. Campus recruitment training programmes, soft skills training, and campus interviews are conducted for the benefit of students.
