A leading London clinic answers the most asked questions
“It is sometimes the case that patients would come to the clinic and state that they’ve wanted to come for surgery for so long but as they didn’t know what the procedure entails they were scared and now they regret that they didn’t come to us earlier. So, we love to share information to help those who are considering surgery such as blepharoplasty, to make an informed choice, sooner rather than later,” says Pari Shams, the consultant oculoplastic surgeon at Pari Shams.
Shams then states that there are mostly two things that patients want to know. This is how long it would take to recover after the procedure and what they need to do to prepare themselves for it in advance. The best course of action before this kind of surgery as with any other kind of surgery is to opt for a healthy lifestyle. When you live a healthy life by eating a balanced diet and getting enough sleep and exercise, you make your body stronger and give it all it needs to recover quickly. Unhealthy life choices such as smoking, excessive drinking and eating unhealthy foods place a lot of toxins in the body that will cause recovery to take longer than it should be. So, make healthy choices in life and look your best.
“Regarding recovery, we always tell our patients that they should expect bruising in the area but that it all disappears within 2-6 weeks after their surgery. This time will depend on how healthy they are. However, swelling will mostly be gone after two weeks,” Shams adds.
Another point to keep in mind is that patients must use the eyedrops that the team prescribed as this would help the wounds to heal faster. When you touch the area to clean it, do so gently with clean hands as it is vital to keep the wounds clean to prevent any form of infection. They also advise their clients to wear dark glasses when they go out after they had upper blepharoplasty at the leading London clinic and if you wear contact lenses, it is best to switch to wearing glasses rather for the first two weeks of your recovery period.
When you leave the clinic after your surgery, you will have to return after 7-10 days and this is when they will remove the stitches and check up on your wounds to see if it is completely healed. Aftercare, when you had upper eye bag removal, is not intense and by simply following the steps that the team provides their patients with, you will be able to enjoy your younger appeal in no time.
