ORACLE GROUP INSURANCE BROKERS RAISED $32,000 TOWARDS MENTAL HEALTH RESEARCH DURING ITS AUTHORISED REPRESENTATIVE CONFERENCE

Oracle Group Australia are an insurance broker network with Authorised Representatives and offices across Australia.

Last week, Oracle Group Insurance Brokers got together with its Authorised Representative network for the annual national OG conference. During the 3 and half days, important topics from the Insurance Industry were discussed, including customer culture, compliance, business interruption and workplace mental health.

“We understand the impact mental health issues can have on a person’s life and that’s why we want to support Black Dog Institute on their Mental Health research”. Jane Martin, Oracle Group Executive Chair

The finance industry is an amazing place to be in and offers myriad growth opportunities. Still, it can also be overwhelming, and that’s why Oracle Group Insurance Brokers invited Damien Coates, DUAL CEO & Black Dog Institute ambassador, to share with the group his personal journey and challenges facing mental health struggles.

As a Mental Health Ambassador, Damien gives an insight into what it is like to experience mental health conditions and aims to give hope and encouragement to others. During his talk, Damien used a very interesting example where he correlates mental health with a dam, where he explains that “When the dam is full, overflows, so we must take steps to recognise our levels and keep the dam under control. My mental health plan has four key pillars: communication, diet, exercise, and medication.”

Oracle Group Insurance Brokers and its partners from the insurance industry gathered $32,000 at their conference to support Black Dog Institute towards their Mental Health research project.

"We want to do more for our Authorised Representative network and ensure they feel supported. We'll be sharing the EAP program with our staff and encourage them to use this tool, which is vital in maintaining our mental health and wellbeing." Paola Kohl, National Marketing Coordinator

As the only medical research institute in Australia to investigate mental health across the lifespan, Black Dog Institute aims to create a mentally healthier world for everyone. They do this through 'translational' research - integrating research studies, education programs, digital tools and apps, clinical services, and public resources to discover new solutions, foster connections and create real-world change.

"The work Black Dog has been doing to understand mood disorders and their investigations of new and better ways to treat and prevent conditions like anxiety and depression are essential to the insurance industry, and that's why we want to support this cause." Matthew Denehy, Managing Director at Oracle Group
