Golden Sedayu has begun construction on Perth's largest urban development, Burswood Point. The 38-hectare project will include 4,500 homes, hotels, and public spaces.

The exciting transformation of the Burswood Peninsula is a step closer, with developer Golden Sedayu celebrating the start of construction on the first residences of its Burswood Point development with a sod-turning ceremony.
The ceremony will be attended by federal, state and local government representatives, including Premier Roger Cook.
Already underway, the multi-billion-dollar, multi-year project will include 4,500 homes, hotels, restaurants, retail offerings and public open space, just 3.5km from the Perth CBD and close to Optus Stadium and the Burswood entertainment precinct.
At 38 hectares, it is the biggest mixed-use urban development project in Perth and one of the largest ever undertaken in Australia – larger than both the Queen’s Wharf development in Brisbane and the Barangaroo project in Sydney.
Situated between the Swan River and Belmont racecourse, the first stage of construction will see 67 freestanding homes built, along with 203 apartments in adjacent twin towers.
Development approvals have also already been granted for a further four towers.
Golden Sedayu managing director Andrew Sugiaputra said the first stage of the development would help to provide the Perth housing market with new, high-quality homes, and marked the beginning of a years’ long project to revitalise a long-forgotten part of the city.
“Burswood Point is the biggest housing project Perth has ever seen and will see the creation of a brand-new community, transforming a long-forgotten section of the peninsula and creating an iconic new destination that will continue to serve Perth residents for generations to come,” he said.
“In addition to 4,500 new residences offered at a range of price points, retail spaces and entertainment offerings, Burswood Point will provide public access to a 2.5-kilometre section of the Swan River foreshore for the first time in 80 years.
“Today’s sod-turning ceremony is an exciting step forward for the project and is a testament to the hard work of the Golden Sedayu team, and the ongoing support from the state government and Town of Victoria Park.”
As part of the project, Golden Sedayu has already spent and awarded close to $200 million in siteworks including access roads, water works and sewer pump station, bulk earthworks and a new bridge connecting Victoria Park Drive into Burswood Point.
Piling is due to begin in November and the first buyers of the luxury freestanding homes are expected to be able to move in by 2027.
Future stages of the development will include a mix of medium-priced and higher end properties, with five per cent of homes set aside in each tower for affordable, key workers, and NDIS housing.
