What can be more satisfying than saving a life? And, one need not be a doctor to do this beautiful act. Organ donation is an easy and yet extremely neglected way to save lives.

Organ India is an organization that imparts education about various facets of organ donation. It encourages people to donate body organs after death, issues organ donor cards and highlights numerous organ donor stories. These stories are touching and recount the tales of people who had given up hope, but with the help of donated organs they were able to live again.

There are various misconceptions prevalent in India about organ donation. The primary purpose of Organ India is to clear these doubts and make people understand what is organ donation? They organize drives to clear the air about body donation in India after death, brain death and organ donation and cadaver donation. Almost all organs like eye, liver, kidney, heart, lungs, pancreas, and others can be donated. But, the difference lies in when? Organ India helps explain the difference between organs that can be donated while living and organ donation after death.

It is always a difficult call for the families of the deceased to take a call on organ donation. To let your loved one be dissected and broken down to pieces is not a sight that one wants to endure. But, what people can take solace in is the fact that after donating organs their loved one is living through so many others. He/she is responsible for saving the lives of numerous people and giving joy to their families. In death also, you have the power to save lives and make others happy.

It all comes down to compassion and love for the next human in general. Tragedies sometimes bring out the best in people and show the strength and love of the human race. While, stories of people dying in road accidents because no one stopped to tend to them makes you question the existence of humanity. On the other hand, there are organ donor stories that recount tales of a mother being brought back to her children or a husband to his wife. These heartwarming stories can bring a tear to any eye.

The biggest hurdle that organ donation faces in India is the lack of knowledge on the subject, which makes organizations likes Organ India essential. Mass media can also play an equally important role in creating awareness about the issue. That is why we see various advertising campaigns by celebrities, endorsing organ donation and pledging organs. This concept time and again is touched in movies and television serials are well. It becomes easy for people to relate to an issue if it is seen on television or if their favourite star is saying that one should do it.

Statistics show that organ donation can help save many lives. There are people dying in this country every minute. While, for some nothing can be done, but there are many who do have a chance. But, this chance can only be realized if there are enough people who understand and contribute to the cause of organ donation.
