3rd Electric Vehicle model in Japan launched by BYD Auto Japan Inc.

BYD, a Chinese automaker revealed that its third EV or electric vehicle, the SEAL, has been launched in Japan as the company moves ahead to the sedan market in the country. The SEAL will be available to the people in two versions and both these versions will have a battery capacity of 8256 kWh as per the reports of BYD Auto Japan Inc. At a press conference in Tokyo, the company announced the kickoff of the retail sales of Sedan all across the nation.

The base model that will be available for people at 5.28 million yen or 33,110 US dollars will offer a driving range of around 640 kilometers, while the all-wheel-drive or AWD comes with a driving range of 575 kilometers, this version went on sale at the pricing of 6.05 million yen. Deliveries of the products are expected to be done by the end of July for the base model whereas for the AWD version, it is expected till August.

Focusing on safety, sports performance and comfort, the newly launched sedan features the blade battery of BYD which is known for its long-range, extended lifespan and high energy density. The SEAL for Japan has been positioned as an e-sports sedan and it aims at the local sedan market, as said by the president of BYD Auto Japan, Atsuki Tofukuji. Adding to this he said that it is hoped that the introduction of this model will bring an increase in sales in the third and fourth quarters of the year.

Emphasis on the fact that extensive market research has been started to localize the SEAL model for Japan which would enable the customers to switch from conventional hybrid or traditional vehicles to electric vehicles effortlessly which has been mentioned by Tomoaki Endo, the director of marketing at BYD Auto Japan.

The initial delivery of electric buses of BYD in the Kyoto market in 2015 marked its official entry into Japan and announced its entry into the Japanese passenger card market in 2022. Two models have also been launched by BYD that are SUV and DOPHIN, a compact car aiming to offer Japanese customers a wide range of experiences with the vehicles.
