O'Neil Blake Looks Back On His Collegiate Football Career

O'Neil Blake enjoyed a stellar collegiate football career and is now helping younger players in his role as a Football Graduate Assistant. Here he reflects on the skills that he developed during his years of playing the game.

 
After moving to the United States from his hometown of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, O'Neil Blake quickly established himself as an excellent student and standout athlete once he started attending Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida. He lettered in three sports, including football, soccer and track and field, earning himself a football scholarship to Glenville State College. After two years at the school, he made the decision to transfer to Lenoir-Rhyne University to further his ambitions in football and to ensure that he received the education that he would need to enjoy a strong career. Having graduated from the institution, he is now looking towards further career opportunities and hopes to use a number of the skills that he developed while playing football to his advantage.

O'Neil Blake Football showed enormous drive and determination to develop as a player, both for his own benefit and that of his team. He recognized the importance of listening to his coaches and learning from their vast experience, in addition to working hard to improve the areas of his game that would allow him to become a more complete player. He has applied this same level of dedication to his studies and will continue to do so throughout his career.

He has also developed a number of leadership qualities that should make him a prime candidate for management roles later on in his career. As he developed more football experience, he became better able to direct fellow players and help them to apply their skills to the benefit of the team. Is his current role as a Football Graduate Assistant, he uses these same leadership qualities to allow him to provide an example for younger players to follow so that they can get the most out of their educations and time on the field.

Perhaps most importantly, O'Neil Blake’s time playing football taught him an enormous amount about the value of teamwork. By recognizing how he and his fellow players fit into the team, the collective was able to become more than the sum of its parts. The same concepts often apply in business and he aims to use his past experiences to the benefit of any organization that he works with.
