One of the main challenges in Mexico is to increase the coverage of mobile networks to allow, mainly in rural and poor areas, access to new communication services. Therefore, the Indian company Omoco newly arrived in Mexico with the intention to deploy thousands of new mobile coverage sites together with their Mexican partners.
Omoco is an indian small cells manufacturer, focused on reducing operating costs (Opex) and capital (Capex) in the deployment of new mobile networks. Their boxes allow 2G connectivity, LTE, and WiFi, ranging from 6,000 up to $ 9,000. Therefore, its objective is to provide connectivity in cut off areas from rural areas with no coverage at all, to buildings such as hotels, shopping malls, hospitals and schools in urban areas that require improving existing cellular signal.
