Woodinville, WA, USA, June 27, 2020- In order to protect public health safety and promote consumer awareness regarding food nutrient values more, FDA has made a few changes in their food nutrition facts labeling guidelines.

In the new labels, the fonts for serving size and calories per serving need to be bigger and bolder and the calories from fat information will be removed. FDA also instructs to increase the font size for serving per container and added sugars have to be now displayed on a separate line and represent a daily value. The new rules allow for adding vitamin D and potassium information to the list of nutrients.

FDA now requires each nutrient to be declared in micrograms and milligrams. In addition to the percent daily value to better represent average US consumption, FDA has changed what defines a serving size for certain foods.
