A new bespoke Piping business; Piper on Parade based in Inverness launched in the Scottish Highlands earlier this month.

Dougie Watson a former Police Sergeant and more importantly a former Scots Guardsman has considered the piping services available to the public in the Scottish Highlands, particularly for weddings and public, private events and has considered an alternative approach or more accurately, a more personable approach.

Dougie believes that through a combination of his military piping background and Guardsman’s detailed approach to ceremonial events, not to mention the importance of immaculate turnout, he will be able to present a bespoke professional and personal piping service to the public.

As Dougie says “ to offer the bespoke and personal services of a piper is most important when that person may be looking for “something” different or deeply personal so as to remember an event or occasion vividly for the rest of their lives. Dougie’s subsequent career in public service lends itself positively to this approach and can only enhances his “get alongside style” most important when planning what can be emotional and /or stressful events with people.

In addition to a bespoke piping service Dougie may deliver all that is traditionally expected of the Highland Bagpiper, not least because he was born, raised and first taught the pipes in the Sutherland Highlands. He also offers up however his extensive experience of playing the Great Highland Bagpipe gained whilst serving with the Guards.

Over several years Dougie played at a range of venues, Nationally and Internationally: as he puts it ”from Public Houses to Country Houses, from Castles to Royal Palaces, and from Television studios to Theatres, not to mention Military Tattoo’s in Australia, St Andrew Society Balls in Asia and State Banquets at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle to name but a few”.
