I was very impressed with this book, giving it four stars out of five.

If you are up for a fast-paced action thriller - this is the book for you! it appeals to everyone because of all the themes explored within the storyline. From a battle-wearied military maverick to a housewife that loves to care for her family - this will grip you from start to end.

Nick Love has written a powerful storyline that follows Chris an ex-military sniper now living as a web designer with his beloved wife and daughter, whose morning run catapults him into a dangerous game of cat and mouse. History is catching up with his present putting his future in jeopardy unless he follows the instructions given alongside a life changing amount of money. Will he be able to keep hold off his morality and his family? or will one have to be dismissed for the other? 2600 Feet per Second is an exciting story from beginning to end.

I went on a ride reading this book. The whole story is well written with the twists always being surprising. I found the ending to be expected however there is one final twist, that no one can foresee. My only critique resulting in the reason for four stars instead of five, was the captor’s identity could have been kept secret, in my opinion, for a bit longer however I do understand the reason Nick revealed it.

From the blurb, I expected this book to be extremely machismo, focusing on military themes and remaining mainly masculine-orientated. However, this book was riveting. I became gripped within the first few chapters as the story was very easy to follow despite the fast-paced events occurring within the story and the levels of complexity needed to ensure this had a climatic ending. Which it delivered immensely. You don't need to have military knowledge to appreciate this story which made me appreciate it so much more.

The side characters are all introduced at good times and their personalities are shown clearly through Nick’s writing. Sketchley was my favourite character throughout this book just because Nick cleverly shows the difficulties that most military veterans face when returning full-time to civilian life. He is Chris's best friend and extremely loyal to his captain making him able to follow Chris as he tries to rescue his family from harm. As each of Chris's team appears their role within the team is clearly stated there are no filler characters in this book, each character has its purpose and because of that, it is well written.

The main plot of this story consists of Chris's struggle morally with the kill list. During his sniper days, the orders were followed but still resulted in struggling with his mental health. The kill list asked him to do exactly what he used to do without authorised orders and Chris knows he will not be able to justify that in his mind. His struggle now is whether he can turn off his morality and deal with the mental health issues later to get his family back safely.

Nick Love has done an amazing job in writing this book and I am looking forward to the second book in the series being released. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and could not put this book down. I wish the book had been longer as I finished it too quickly for my liking. Nick’s knowledge of military life shines through in this book, yet he remains inclusive to all readers from every background. I wish to say a massive well done to Nick for powering through his dyslexia and providing a book to be proud of. I highly recommend this book.
