Soon after its theatrical release in the month of April, AR Rahman’s 99 Songs is ready for its release on the OTT platform. The movie is AR Rahman’s debut project as a co-writer as well as a film producer. The film starring Ehan Bhatt, Edilsy Vargas, Lisa Ray, and popular Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala will be streaming on OTT platforms Netflix as well as Jio Cinema from May 21. The film, which hit the big screens on April 16 this year, will be available for streaming in three languages: Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
The Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman shared the news with his fans and friends taking to his social media profile. jio Studios also shared the announcement on Twitter about the film’s premiere on a digital platform. “Join Jay on his musical journey inside the world of 99 Songs! Watch the digital premiere of #99Songs written and produced by @arrahman starring @itsEhanBhat #EdilsyVargas from May 21 on #JioCinema,” Jio Studios’tweeted taking to its official page.
The movie’s story is about a boy Jay who is focused on his singing career and is in love with a girl named Sophie. Things go haywire after the girl’s father challenged his music acumen.
Speaking of which, Debut producer AR Rahman said in a statement, “As part of my production company, YM Movies, I’m happy to collaborate with Jio Studios in bringing together this experiential movie. 99 Songs is about one man’s struggle against the old and the new world. And the antidote is music. It’s my pleasure to introduce the film’s director Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy and a talented cast comprising Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas. It was a great experience working with icons like Manisha Koirala and Lisa Ray, and music legends Ranjit Barot and Rahul Ram.”
