[Healthcare City, 06/01/2017] – Scientific International Scientific School of Dubai, an international school in Dubai, follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme as a candidate school. SISD offers the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, covering ages from 3-19. The institution is currently pursuing authorisation as an IB World School.

The IB Programme

The IB was founded in 1968 with a mission to ‘create a better world through education’. The non-profit educational foundation offers four programmes (Primary, Middle Years, Diploma, Career-related) designed to develop skills necessary to live fully in an increasingly globalised world.

The Primary Years Programme (ages 3-12) serves as the foundation, while the Middle Years Programme (ages 11-16) introduces the study of more discrete disciplines. The Diploma Programme (ages 16-19) prepares students for tertiary education. Finally, the Career-related Programme (ages 16-19) leads to higher education, employment or apprenticeships.

Schools must be granted authorisation by the IB organisation to offer any of the programmes and become an IB World School.

SISD as a Candidate School

SISD follows the framework of the IB program as a candidate school from Pre-KG to Grade 9. Grades 10-12 will open in the years to come, subject to the approval of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KDHA).

Three streams are offered: the English/French stream (with Arabic); the English/German stream (with Arabic); and the English+ stream with additional languages (Arabic and French or German).

The programmes are designed to provide a coherent learning experience and create a community of compassionate, life-long learners, while inspiring young people to be inquisitive, knowledgeable and caring.
