How does one register for GST online?
The latest update of the Indian tax system, GST or GST, is implemented on the supply of goods and services. You can easily do GST registration online and ensure smooth business management. The whole process for registration of GST takes 3-6 working days.
GST overview
According to the GST law, registration as a regular taxable company is compulsory for companies offering to sell products with a turnover of Rs 40 lakh or more. And, to apply for GST, a service provider with an annual turnover greater than 20 rs. Twenty lakhs is needed.
The amount is Rs 10 lakh for companies located in the hills states and the northeastern states. However, companies operating without GST are considered illegal entities and are responsible for the sanctions.
Steps to register online GST
The following steps will simplify the online registration process for GST:
• Log in to the official website of GST.
Once you log into the portal, you should go to the taxpayer and click on Register Now.
• Now click on the new registration. Now, enter the following details.
• You will find ‘I,’ a drop-down menu will appear, and you need to select taxpayers.
• Then choose your state and region.
• Add your company name.
• Provide your PAN.
• Add email ID and mobile phone number. Make sure the email id is active, and you are using the mobile phone number where the OTP will be sent here.
• You are then asked to enter the CAPTCHA, as shown in the image, and click Continue.
• Once you have entered the details about the company, you will be directed to the next page where you must enter the OTP that is sent to the mobile phone number and email ID.
• Once you’ve filled out all the details, click Continue.
• Next, you will see the temporary reference number or TRN on the screen. Make sure to keep TRN safe with you.
• You will again have to return to the GST portal and click on the registration option located under the Taxpayer tab.
• After that, you will be asked to enter the temporary reference number, or TRN followed by the CAPTCHA details.
• Click Continue.
• You will receive OTP on your email id and mobile phone number; enter this number in their respective boxes and proceed.
• You can find the status of your order on the next page. There is an editing option located on the right side. Click on this icon.
• You will be directed to a page where there are ten sections. Here you will be required to fill in all information along with the necessary documents.
You will be required to provide the following documents:
• Photographs
• Proof of business address
• Bank details such as account number, bank name, IFSC code, bank branch
• Authorization Form
• Taxpayer Constitution
• After entering all the details, you should go to the verification page. Check the acknowledgment and submit the request via any of the following methods:
• O EVC or electronic verification code – this is sent to your registered mobile phone number
• Electronic signature method – OTP will be sent to the mobile phone number associated with your Aadhaar card
• O DSC or digital signature certificate – this is when companies register
• After successfully completing the above steps, you will receive the application reference number or ARN to your registered mobile phone number and email ID.
• You can check the ARN status on the GST website.

• The applicant’s PAN card
• Adhar Card
• A bank statement of the applicant with a canceled check
• Proof of business address
Certificate of Establishment Date
• Director’s address and identity proof
• The letter of authorization or decision of the Board of Directors must be with the accredited signatory
How to make GST online payment?
GST online payment is an easy process. The following steps will take you through the GST online payment mode:
• Start by logging in to the GST portal
• You will have to enter your username, password, and captcha
• Once logged in, you should go to the Services tab, here you need to select Payment and then create Challan
• Enter the amount followed by selecting the payment method
• Once the payment mode is selected, a challan page summary will appear; here you have the option to choose the online or offline payment method
• In the event of offline Payment, you will have to visit the bank, while you can make GST and pay online via NEFT, RTGS, debit or credit card from accredited banks
• Once you make a GST payment online, you will receive the receipt by email and SMS
