Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) have introduced a new legislation, the American Liberty Restoration Act, in an attempt to annul the President's health care act.

Garnering the support of 30 senators, this legislation will repeal the individual insurance mandate, which is the foundation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act's focus to extend care to all Americans by forcing the nation to purchase health insurance whether or not people want it.

According to Hatch, "The $2.6 trillion health law is driving up health care costs, increasing taxes on families, stifling job creation, and reducing the quality of patient care. What's more, it for the first time in our nation's history requires every American to purchase insurance even if they don't want it."

On Tuesday, U.S. Senator John Isakson (R-Ga) announced that he would be co-sponsoring this new legislation. "Since the day that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law, I have worked to repeal it because of its terrible consequences on America's families and small business," he said.

Republicans face an uphill battle against the Senate's controlling Democratic party. Since the PPACA became law, Republicans in the House of Representatives have passed two similar legislations only to be met with denial from the Senate.

"This legislation we are introducing today is simple: it strikes the individual mandate, so we can instead find ways of providing people with health care, but in a manner that doesn't run counter to our constitutional framework of limited government," reported Hatch.

Alexander and Hatch explained that never before in our nation's history has the government forced Americans to purchase something they did not wish to purchase, especially in an economy where money is already tight.

Isakson reported, "I believe that we are going down a dangerous path by requiring individuals to purchase a product, including health care, and I am proud to stand by my colleagues today to ensure that Americans are not forced to comply with the individual mandate that is set to be implemented next year."

Obama's administration argues that they can't require insurance providers to offer coverage for sick people without requiring healthy people to purchase insurance.

Alexander explained that the Affordable Care Act is a "historical mistake that expands a health-care system we already can't afford, drives up individual premiums, and then taxes Americans to pay for it." The Affordable Care Act's individual mandate is presently on course to be put into effect in 2014.

NationalQuotes recommends that before the Affordable Care Act is implemented, individuals searching for affordable family health insurance should request health insurance quotes from different insurance providers.
