16 February, Delhi: The Redbell Team won the Division 3 Cup final of the Delhi International Football League on 14 February at Kathuria Public School, Delhi. The team won the final match against Wild Sparkle on the school pitch. The trophy was awarded to the winning team by Mr Sajiv Dhawan, Director of Redbell, India’s biggest online specialty children or kids store.

“It was a good match with the players giving their all. The kids and their coaches worked hard on their match. They really applied themselves and you could see that difference. Most importantly, they really enjoyed themselves. I am proud of our team and their winning performance,” said Mr Dhawan.

With this win, the Redbell team became the champion of Division 3 of the recently con-cluded DILF. Division 3 comprises of players in the 9-10-year-old age group. The Delhi In-ternational League Football Cup holds these yearly tournaments for boys and girls be-tween the ages of 5 years to 17 and half year-olds. Registration for the league begins in August. Practice and matches’ sessions typically take place between October and Febru-ary.

With the league championship being one the previous week the Cup Final matches were held on Sunday, which was also won by Redbell. The finals saw the culmination of hard work by the children, their coaches and parents who have been practising the whole sea-son. The Division 3 cup was handed over to the Redbell team by Mr Dhawan.

Established in 1983, the DILF is run by parent volunteers. Parents act as sponsors, coach-es, managers and organisers. Parent participation is seen as a key factor in the growth of this league. Outside sponsors such as Redbell are also actively engaged in promoting and sponsoring the events.

“The DIFL is an ideal opportunity for us to encourage the sporting ethos among young chil-dren. As an online toy store, we are not just interested in selling products. We are also look-ing for avenues to encourage sports and fitness. And what can be better than football? This game teaches them to compete, play with teammates and stay fit,” added Mr Dhawan.
