How do antioxidants keep you healthy?

The most common pollen used for its nutritional value is bee pollen. Bee pollen contains vitamins, minerals, protein, amino acids, and antioxidant properties.

 
Antioxidants are substances that prevent or slow down the damage caused to cells by free radicals and unstable molecules produced by the body as a response to change in environmental and other pressures. The sources of antioxidants can be both, natural or artificial. Antioxidants can protect your body from oxidative stress, like, excessive exercise, smoking, pollution, consumption of processed and refined foods, etc. Now hundreds and thousands of substances can act as an antioxidant: Vitamin A, C, E, manganese, selenium, etc. Amongst the commonly known food sources there are a few that aren't recognized by a lot of people:

Another powerful ingredient present in the tree is the quercetin, an antioxidant used to cleanse the blood and cure inflammation caused by viral illnesses. Quercetin has also been used to improve obesity an Type 2 diabetes.
Pollen
The most common pollen used for its nutritional value is bee pollen. Bee pollen contains vitamins, minerals, protein, amino acids, and antioxidant properties. It also includes antihistamine properties which help in reducing skin allergies. The high antioxidant content protects you from free radicals and chronic diseases. Apricot
Apricots, known for its high content of Vitamin A and fibers are a powerful antioxidant.Dried apricots are attained by drying the fruit without harming the nutritive value of the fruit. Vitamin A is a strong antioxidant which helps in fighting the free radicals and maintaining the health of cells and tissues. These free radicals can damage or cause injury to the human eye and lead to the development of cataracts. Consuming apricots can reduce the risk of developing cataracts.
