(English Channel, 06th Apr 2019) –
Is sailing across the seas your dream? Do you wish to leave from one shore and after a long overnight passage watch the sun setting on the other shore? In short, do you want to experience a great adventure at sea? Then a sailing trip in the English Channel by Naleia Yachting is designed for you!
The sailing trip across the English Channel with Naleia Yachting begins from the Solent which is a world-famous sailing area located between the English south coast and the Isle of Wight. You will get a chance to explore Solent and the Isle of Wight, get acquainted with the yacht, learn to work as a crew and wait for the proper wind conditions on the first two days of your trip. Once read you will be leaving for the overnight passage to the Channel Islands which is approximately a 20-hour journey. Leaving behind the Isle of Wight you will be passing along the white cliffs of the ‘Needles’ while the sun sets over the Channel. At night you will keep watch by teams of 2 or 3 to hold the course and on the passing ships. The watches will relay every 3 hours, and after the night cruise, you will see Alderney in the bright morning light. You can take a break in Alderney or choose to continue the journey straight to Guernsey where you can head to the pub for a delicious dinner. Depending upon your preferences the Naleia Yachting team will let you either explore the Channel Islands further or take a hop to the French coast for some baguette and croissants. After a great sailing experience, it will be time to make a return journey with the crew.
Those interested in learning how to prepare a sailing passage, calculate the tides, organise the crew and the watches, keep the navigation and fix your position, will be able to learn all those skills on this trip! This trip will test your team spirit as everyone will have to play several roles on board, from taking the helm, to keeping watch at night, keeping track on the chart or merely putting the kettle on for the on-watch crew. A sailing trip in the English Channel is more technical than any of the usual destinations and will be perfect for those who would like to take it one step further than sailing in the Mediterranean. So are you ready to sail against the high tides of the English Channel? Then you must go for the six days English Channel crossing program by Naleia Yachting! Make sure you have sailed at least once before and are not sensitive to sea sickness!
“We are true to the discoverers’ spirit and plan our adventures accordingly to the winds, the weather and your wishes. This means the order as well as some of stopovers may be different than presented below. Leave planning at home! The plan showed below is only an indicative itinerary and your trip may differ. Only the mad ones sail against the wind! This sailing trip will be more technical than our usual destinations and will be perfect for those who would like to take it one step further than sailing in the Mediterranean. Sailing in the Med is comparatively easy, since there are hardly any tides or currents. In many parts of the world however, cruising around in a yacht requires a lot more preparation. Departure and arrival times have to be calculated to be with the tide, and not against it. Getting the timing right makes the difference between fighting for hours against the current and going nowhere at all, or shooting forward at 10 knots and arriving to the pub just on time!” – says a spokesperson at NALEIA YACHTING.
