In a compelling exploration of esthetic values across the United States, Healthnews (https://healthnews.com/) has released a report, offering an in-depth look at the states where the quest for youth and beauty is most pronounced.

The report identifies the states with the highest and lowest concentration of plastic surgeons per capita, providing a unique lens through which societal values and preferences are reflected. It highlights Connecticut's leading position, with an impressive 1.52 plastic surgeons per 100,000 residents, followed closely by Delaware, Florida, New Jersey, and Kansas.

Contrary to expectations, California and New York secured only the 6th and 7th spots, respectively. Florida clinched the third position, trailing behind Connecticut and Delaware. Surprisingly, Kansas emerged as the fifth state in this ranking, showcasing an unexpected prominence in the field.

The Healthnews research team utilized the member directory of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which represents about 90% of all board-certified plastic surgeons in the country. The analysis considered the number of plastic surgeons per 100,000 residents in each state, offering a comprehensive perspective on the prevalence of plastic surgery across the nation.

Connecticut emerged as the state with the highest number of plastic surgeons for its population, boasting a ratio of 1.52 surgeons per 100,000 residents. The state's affluent demographic and advanced medical facilities contribute significantly to this result.

Delaware ranks closely behind, with a ratio of 1.45 plastic surgeons per 100,000 residents. The state's attractive tax policies and strategic geographical position enhance its appeal to plastic surgeons.

Florida, notable for its sizable retiree community and thriving tourism sector, has approximately 1.43 plastic surgeons per 100,000 residents. The state's tax advantages and emphasis on appearance further bolster its ranking.

New Jersey stands out with a ratio of 1.40 plastic surgeons per 100,000 residents. This figure is largely due to the state's high median income, significant population density, and strong medical infrastructure, factors that collectively drive the demand for plastic surgery services.

In Kansas, the study reveals a ratio of 1.39 plastic surgeons per 100,000 residents. This unexpected finding is supported by the state's reputable medical schools and training hospitals, coupled with initiatives aimed at improving healthcare in less densely populated areas.

States like Wyoming, Alaska, and West Virginia report the lowest concentrations of plastic surgeons, with ratios of 0.17, 0.55, and 0.62 per 100,000 residents, respectively. The study attributes these lower figures to factors including population density, geographical remoteness, and economic conditions.
