With the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) catching up on seven years’ worth of clean energy investments in the little over a year since it’s been introduced, EcoCareers.org is pleased by the results it has been seeing.

EcoCareers.org is an online jobs board and resource website for all jobs in sustainability, whether traditional green jobs like solar panel technicians or environmental scientists to jobs in industries that are newer to sustainability, like fashion and manufacturing. EcoCareers.org seeks to connect employers, hiring managers and HR personnel in the green sector with jobseekers and the top talent in their respective industries.

According to BlueGreen Alliance, the number of new jobs created and investments made in new businesses or expanded operations in clean energy amount to the kind of progress that would have been achieved in seven years if the IRA had not come into effect.

“We’ve been seeing an overwhelming increase in the number of green jobs that are available, with no sign of it slowing down anytime soon,” said Joseph Boll, EcoCareers.org CEO.

Similarly, other international job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed have noted the ongoing boom in clean energy jobs. There are a wealth of job openings not only in the United States but in other countries around the world too. The growth has been to the extent that businesses have started offering apprenticeships and other, alternative opportunities to get more workers to come onboard.

“When the IRA was first introduced, it was said that around nine million jobs — or more — could be created in the next 10 years as a result,” Boll noted. “No one was expecting that to happen in one year, but with the hundreds of jobs that have become available since the IRA was signed, EcoCareers.org is encouraged to see that the USA seems well on its way to achieving that hefty goal.”

It’s expected that the bulk of new jobs created will be in the clean energy sector, including fields like solar technology and electric vehicles. But other industries have strong potential too, such as the environmental justice field. This marriage between environmental science and the law isn’t what most people think of when they’re talking about renewable energy jobs, but it is a viable, growing industry that could see hundreds of thousands of new jobs created thanks to the IRA.

The possibilities seem endless and growing in renewable energy, and EcoCareers.org is doing its part to help make people aware of the wide range of job opportunities that arise.
