Berlin-based Artist Appeals for Public’s Help in Recovering Stolen Paintings
Rome, 02.11.2024 – In a shocking turn of events, the anonymous Berlin-based minimalistic artist known as G-M from @mysecretatelier has fallen victim to an art heist upon her arrival in Rome. Shortly after arriving from Berlin in a van containing her art collection, the artist’s vehicle was broken into, resulting in the theft of five paintings—one large and four small works—along with personal belongings.
The theft occurred on the artist’s first night in Rome, where she was preparing for a series of exhibitions in renowned Italian art cities, including Rome, Milan, and Venice. The stolen paintings, each marked with a stamp of "G" and “@mysecretatelier,” carry significant personal and artistic value, as they were intended for display in prestigious venues across Italy.
“This incident has shaken us deeply,” says the artist’s spokesperson. “The stolen paintings hold profound meaning, each capturing themes of transformation, resilience, and the inner journey toward self-discovery. They were created not only for exhibition but also as a message to connect with viewers on a deeply personal level.”
Appeal for Public Assistance
The artist and her team are now reaching out to the public for support. “We are asking anyone who encounters a painting bearing the stamp ‘@mysecretatelier’ to contact us immediately,” the spokesperson adds. “We would like to verify the artwork and ensure the buyer purchased it rightfully.”
Description of Stolen Artworks
The stolen pieces vary in size and content, with one large (70x120 cm) painting and four smaller ones (each 30x30 cm), each reflecting the artist’s signature minimalistic style and vibrant color palette. All works are marked with the distinctive stamp "G" and “@mysecretatelier” on the back.
How You Can Help
Anyone with information regarding the stolen artwork is urged to reach out via direct message on Instagram to @mysecretatelier. The artist and her team are hopeful that increased public awareness will help recover the paintings, allowing them to continue on their intended journey across Italy’s exhibitions.
