Watering is one of the most important operations in gardening. Improper watering can lead to weakening or killing plants!

Water is needed for the plants to transport all the nutrients from the soil to different parts.

Signs of improper watering:

Drooping of plants
Drying of plants
Wilting of plants
Losing the lustre of plants
When to water?

It is much recommended to water early in the mornings or late in the evening when there is not much sunlight.
Watering is also essential soon after the sowing/ transplanting of seeds and saplings.
Watering can be done before spraying medicines to the plants.
How much to water?

Vegetable plants require regular/ Daily watering when compared to Ornamental plants
Watering is needed twice a day in summers based on temperature. There is no need for watering after rains. In winters based on climatic conditions, watering can be done once a day or two.
Soil media with more coco peat requires less watering interval when compared to other soils as Coco peat can retain water for longer periods.
Water only the amount needed by plants, as overwatering can suffocate plants and make plants hard to breathe. This might lead to the rotting of roots.
When watering containers, make sure the water flows down to the 3/4th depth of the container.
