Pathway, the biggest NGO has observed the National Day of Mourning with Third Gender or Transgender people
The non-governmental organization Pathway observed the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, and the national mourning day of Bangladesh.
A spiritual Milad mahfil and prayers were held for the 47th martyrdom anniversary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and for the forgiveness of the souls of all the martyrs of his family on August 15 Monday (August 15) at Pathway's head office in Mirpur. More than 2 hundred third gender people and the mass people of Mirpur were present at the time of Milad mahfil. Later discussion meeting and painting competition was held among the young children. Also, mass feast distribution of food has been distributed among mass people as well as transgender people. On this occasion, Pathway organized various cultural and national programs including hoisting the national flag in the morning.
Kanta, the honorable representative of the third gender said, if the father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was alive, he would not have been so neglected in society. He would have given us the opportunity to work for the development of the country by returning to the mainstream of society. On the occasion of his 47th martyrdom anniversary, the heartiest appeal to the Prime Minister and important persons of the country including the head of government will come forward to create a workplace for the third gender people.
In the discussion meeting, Pathway's Executive Director Md Shaheen said that to build Bangabandhu's dream of Sonar Bangla we should connect the backward sections of the society to the mainstream of society. He also requested the family, society, and close relatives to treat the neglected third gender as human beings, as a people, to avoid negative attitudes toward them, and to pay attention to their education, health and housing, and other basic rights. He urged them to train them by providing various technical training and creating opportunities in the workplace to participate in all developmental activities of the state.
He also asked everyone to come forward to remove the unemployment problem by providing employment opportunities in various factories by giving equal rights to government jobs as well as private sector. It's our motherland, the responsibility is not only yours but everyone. He requested all the financial institutions in the country to provide financial assistance and business opportunities to the third-gender people. In this regard, Pathway, a non-governmental organization, already has taken the initiative of providing small loans to the Hijras to eliminate their unemployment problem and make them financially independent. Which can be a milestone in the history of 51 years of independence, said the executive director of Pathway.
In the prayer ceremony, former organizing secretary of Bangladesh Awami Jubo League SM Zahid, social service officer (Zone-6) KM Shahiduzzaman, Chairman of pathway Rizur Rahman, Executive director of pathway Md Shahin, advisor of pathway Saddam Hossain Fayez, officials of various cooperative organizations including people of the third gender were present.
