The Town of Mount Pleasant has officially opened the MoveStrong FitGround at
Memorial Waterfront Park after completing Phase III, marking a new milestone in the
town’s efforts to promote outdoor recreation and community connection.
Set beneath the Ravenel Bridge along the waterfront, the 3,500-square-foot FitGround
is a functional fitness zone equipped with obstacle challenges, strength stations, and
specialty surfacing for guided movement and agility drills for all ages and abilities.
The completion of the FitGround follows two years of thoughtful planning, design, and
construction. Developed in collaboration with MoveStrong and supported by both public
and private partners, the project brings residents a high-quality, open-air fitness
experience. Through the combined efforts of town officials, architects, and parks and
recreation staff, a shared vision has come to life.
Opening festivities included live entertainment, family activities, fitness demos, and
community partner booths, drawing crowds to this newest feature of the park expansion.
In addition to the FitGround, the park now features a splash pad, basketball and
pickleball courts, walking paths, a dog park, new restrooms, and a preserved section of
the Grace Memorial Bridge.
Thanks to the support of Hill Construction, LCK, JLA, SCDOT, and Town Council and
staff, the MoveStrong Fitness Park is now open to the public. Locals and visitors alike
are invited to explore the newly enhanced space and enjoy a uniquely Mount Pleasant
blend of fitness, fun, and waterfront views.
