Financial Impacts of an Arresst

In case the arrested person is eligible for a bail, then the amount must be paid. Usually, this is a lot of money and can cause a financial burden on the arrested individuals and their families.

An arrest can have a wide impact on one’s life. While there is a psychological factor, and the matter of integrating back with the routine life after an arrest that may or may not result in a conviction, perhaps, the most crippling of all can be the financial impact.

In the state of Missouri, MO arrest records are public under the Missouri State Records, and they can be accessed by the members of the public.

What are the financial impacts of an arrest?

If an individual is arrested, it can cost to hire an attorney, in case the defendant is not eligible for a public attorney.
In case charges are pressed, there are court fees and other legal expenses to be taken care of.
In case the arrested person is eligible for a bail, then the amount must be paid. Usually, this is a lot of money and can cause a financial burden on the arrested individuals and their families.
In the case of smaller crimes, the amount of financial burden is less, but in the case of big cases of more serious crimes, the drain on financial resources can be immense.
It is possible that during the arrest, trial and the conviction period, the arrestee cannot work, and will have to forego wages or take a cut in the salary paid to the person.
An arrestee may lose their jobs or be suspended without pay for the period of trial and conviction, which leaves the individual with no means to support themselves on their own.
If the arrestee is of good financial means, it may be possible that bank accounts and assets may be frozen for the period of the arrest, until the trial is over. In this case, the individual is left with no financial means to support themselves or their legal expenses until their assets are unfrozen.
If the arrest leads to an incarceration, and the person being arrested already has a debt, then it is possible that the arrestee cannot pay back the debt during jail time, causing the load to increase during the time in jail. If the employment of a person is terminated during jail time, then this debt can escalate and there is no way for the person to pay it back. It is not uncommon for people who have been in jails to file a motion for bankruptcy because of an increase in debts and no way to pay them back.
Even if there is no conviction, an arrest record can always influence current and future employment, leaving the person getting arrested little chance at improving their financial situation.
