Types and Features of Yas Drag Race Experiences
Yas Drag Roll Racing
Unleash the racer within in a controlled and safe environment at Yas Marina Circuit. The Yas Drag Roll Racing is perfect for participants who want to bring their own car to experience a Formula 1 drag race in a controlled environment. Participants are to set in line to speed at the first gate. The drag race begins once the light goes green. The participants can monitor their time by looking at the state-of-the-art timing system.
Requirement Protocol:
• The participant should be above the age of 18 and possess a valid driving license that is at least one year old from UAE or home country.
• The participant needs to reach the main west entrance and from their head to Drag Strip located at Drag Centre at least 30 minutes before the schedule.
• The participant will need to provide consent for their car’s technical inspection. Once the car passes the technical inspection, it will be allocated a car number by the technical inspector. The sticker will be applied on the car’s windshield, and the participant will be guided towards the customer service booth for booking and document validation.
• Post the formalities; the participants must attend a safety briefing.
• The participants should adhere to all Covid protocols designed by the circuit.
• Only the participants should be seated in the drag racing cars; passengers are not allowed.
• Once the rolling starts, the participants must inform their race master about their agreed speed to start. They can opt between 40km/h, 60km/h, or 80km/h.
• 4 crew members and 1 crew vehicle are permitted per participating car. Please book crew personnel and vehicles as soon as the booking is validated to proceed to the paddock.
• Please maintain the speed limit at 40kph in the paddock, staging zone, and return road.
Car Requirements
• All drag racing cars must have valid road registration and should be presented in a roadworthy condition.
• The car’s tires should be legal. No slicks will be permitted.
• The participants are responsible for their vehicle’s safety condition. A technical inspection will be conducted before the drag racing to ensure the car meets at least minimum safety requirements.
• Sport, SUV cars, trucks, and saloons are permitted for Yas drag race. Convertible cars may be permitted, but the vehicle’s roof should be closed unless the car is equipped with a roll cage or roll hoops.
• Participants with the open car must wear close-face helmets.
• Streetcars are allowed only if they pass safety tech inspection.
• Open-wheeled formula cars and vehicles with lesser or more than four wheels will not be permitted for drag racing at Yas Marina Circuit.
Yas Drag Night
The Yas Drag Night urges participants to push the limits of their cars on the NHRA-accredited drag racing strip in a practice-testing format. The participants get to witness the true power of their car/ bike in a safe and controlled environment by participating in this Yas drag race. The Yas Drag Night is a perfect activity for testing drag skills and acceleration.
Requirement Protocol:
• The participants should reach the drag racing venue at least 30 minutes prior.
• All participants must park their vehicles at the Yas Drag Racing car park.
• The driving license and waiver procedure should be completed digitally through the link sent on the participant's registered email id. Please note the link will be closed 1 hour before the arrival time.
• The participants must complete driver waiver formalities before their arrival time.
• A temperature check will be conducted upon arrival.
• The participants are requested to keep their ticket order number ready for customer service to validate booking and carry out technical inspection and registration for the car.
• All participating vehicles must be inspected and approved by YMC scrutineering team.
• Vehicle insurance on the drag strip is not covered by Yas Marina Circuit.
• Once the vehicle passes all technical requirements, participants can proceed to race against an opponent.
• The participants can then take part in a formula 1 drag race for up to 3 hours.
• Passengers and spectators are strictly prohibited during the initial opening period.
• 3 crew members or 3 media personals are permitted per participant. Please make these bookings in advance.
Car Requirements
• Trucks, sports, saloons, SUV cars and sports bikes are allowed.
• Pro and street cars may be allowed if they pass safety tech inspection.
• The vehicle should be roadworthy and will need to undergo technical inspection.
Drag Race the Chevrolet Camaro SS
Be a part of drag racing in the all-new Chevrolet Camaro SS. Participants feel the adrenaline rush as the car races from 0 to 100 km/h in barely 4.3 seconds. The participants take the passenger seat, while a professional drag racer wheels the car on NHRA sanctioned purpose-built racing strip.
Drag Racing Car Specs
• The car can go from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.
• Chevrolet Camaro SS offers 455 BHP for power and speed.
• The car is equipped with a 6.2-litre V8 engine.
• Chevrolet Camron SS has 6-speed paddle shift transmission.
• Weights approximately 1700 kgs.
• The car also has 618 Newton meters of torque.
Requirement Protocol:
• The participants should be more than 19 years of age.
• The participants should hold a valid UAE or home country driving license that is a minimum of 1 year old.
• Participants aged 19-25 must have a valid driving license which they have held for a minimum of 2 years.
• The participant’s height should be between 155-195cm, and weight should not exceed 120kg.
• The duration of the full experience is 90 minutes, this includes arrival, registration, briefing, kit up, drive, and departure.
• The participants are requested to reach at least 20 minutes before the schedule.
• The participants need to access the circuit and head over to the racing school at YMC.
• Driving license and waiver procedures should be completed digitally 24 hours before the experience schedule.
• The participants should keep their ticket order number ready for registration at the main reception.
• Introduction and safety briefing will be conducted by an instructor before the Yas drag race.
• The participants should wear clothing that covers the arms, legs, and toes.
• The staff will access participants to wear helmet balaclava, and gloves.
• The instructor will then introduce you to the car and explain the controls.
• The participant takes the passenger seat as the instructor takes the wheel to explain staging, braking zones, and the finish line.
• Each participant gets 5 runs head-to-head against an opponent or time.
• The instructor will always monitor the participant’s performance and brief via radio.
• The participants can avail of vehicle photos as a souvenir.
• Family and friends are welcome to spectate the participant experiencing drag racing.
