Ethylene vinyl acetate & (EVA) is a thermoplastic copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It is produced by random copolymerization of ethylene and vinyl acetate in a predetermined ratio. There are various types of EVAs based on vinyl acetate content such as very low density (VLEVA), low density (LEVA), medium density (MEVA), and high density (HEVA) used in the applications such as film, injection molding, extrusion, non-extrusion, coating, and wire & cable.

The ethylene vinyl acetate market is experiencing healthy growth that is expected to continue in the near future, mainly driven by the highly growing Asia-Pacific region and intense focus towards industrial expansion. A significant amount of investments are made by various market players in order to be prepared to serve the high potential end-use industries in the future. Asia-Pacific is the key market that accounted for nearly half of the total global demand in 2012. The region is further expected to show quite high growth in the future, mainly due to its growing domestic demand and export-based industry set-up.
Film was the single-largest application of ethylene vinyl acetate, with a market share of nearly 38.9% of the total demand in 2012. Increasing demand for injection molding and compounding and wire & cable is driving the demand for these products. Compounding and wire & cable segment consumes comparatively lesser quantity of EVA; but the demand growth is anticipated to be significant due to the increasing penetration of this application in various industries.
